Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for the area. 

The warning includes areas of Wheatland County, Strathmore, Brooks, Lyalta, Carseland and Vulcan. 

"Rain will begin this afternoon and continue through Tuesday night. Widespread rainfall totals of 50 to 70 mm are likely. Locally higher amounts of 80 mm or more are possible," said Environment Canada. 

The rain should taper off on Wednesday. 

"Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible."
