A special weather statement has ended for Strathmore and the surrounding areas.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a weather statement for Strathmore and the surrounding area, indicating an abrupt change to the weather later today.

"After a stretch of above-average spring temperatures, a cold front will move through this afternoon and evening, reaching the American border tonight. This front will usher in a cooler airmass along with rain and snow," the ECCC statement read.

According to ECCC, rain starts before snowfall, and the transition from rain to snow is expected to reach us later this evening.

"There is uncertainty about how much snowfall will accumulate, though amounts of 5 to 10 cm are possible by Wednesday morning in some locations. Calm and cooler conditions are forecast for Wednesday and the remainder of the week."

Today (April 15), the forecast for Strathmore is 20 degrees with a chance of showers, tonight a low of 2, and to start off Tuesday a high of 3, and there will be snow mixed with rain.
