Today (March 13), there is a chance that we may see some snow showers, but come the weekend, there will be spring-like conditions.

Friday (March 15) will see a high of 15 degrees Celsius, and by Monday it will be 17 degrees.

Where did this change in seasons come from? It was only two weeks ago when we witnessed a dump of snow and winter conditions.

“We have an upper ridge building that is normally associated with warmer temperatures and less active weather. So, for the end of this week and into early next week, we have temperatures forecast mainly in the positive double digits,” says Samantha Mauti, a meteorologist with Environment Canada.

According to Mauti, we can expect temperatures above 10 degrees Celsius and even into the mid-teens.

“For context, the normal high for Strathmore in the middle of March is highs of 4 degrees Celsius and lows of -8 degrees. So, this is well above normal for this time of year.”

Don’t put away those winter boots yet, as the warm weather most likely won't stick around for long.

“It looks like we're going to experience a little bit of a change in pattern as we move towards the middle to end of next week.”

Temperatures are expected to dip down again around the 21st–22nd of March.
